"Our twins were accepted into two private liberal arts colleges, but we weren't offered a penny of aid — and we were facing $800K in tuition over four years. Kevin and the team helped us craft compelling appeals to each school (three rounds of back-and-forth each). We're now receiving roughly $25K a year in aid we wouldn't have had otherwise.

The deep understanding of what colleges actually consider, paired with Kevin's tenacity in fighting for us, made all the difference. College Aid Pro is currently netting us a 40-to-1 return on investment."

"Our family has worked with College Aid Pro (and their MyCAP system) for over a year now. In hindsight, I wish we'd started sooner. Their free webinars are super informative — especially for families going through this process for the first time. And the advice we've received from their consultants on a) completing the FAFSA and CSS forms (everyone should) and b) negotiating financial offers from colleges has been absolutely invaluable. I routinely recommend this firm to friends who are just beginning this journey."

Questions

Honest answers to real parent questions

My student is only in 9th or 10th grade. Is it too early?
No — and in many ways, earlier is better. Merit aid is determined largely by factors that are shaped in 9th and 10th grade: GPA trajectory, test score positioning, and which schools you're targeting. Families who understand the financial aid landscape early build their college list differently — and end up with significantly more aid as a result. The net cost calculator and scholarship database are useful from day one.
We already have a college counselor. Do we still need this?
Almost certainly yes — and they serve completely different purposes. College counselors focus on admissions: essays, applications, and getting into schools. College Aid Pro focuses on money: what each school will actually cost your family, how to maximize aid, how to compare financial aid letters, and how to borrow strategically if needed. Most counselors don't go deep on the financial side. CAP fills that gap.
What is MyCAP and how is it different from other tools I've seen?
MyCAP is College Aid Pro's college planning platform. Unlike tools that show you rankings or application odds, MyCAP shows you the financial reality at each school on your list — your estimated net cost after grants and scholarships, what merit aid you're likely eligible for, and how each school compares on true affordability. It's built on 20+ years of college finance expertise, not algorithm-generated guesses.
What if we make too much money to qualify for financial aid?
This is one of the most common and costly misconceptions in college planning. Merit aid — which is based on your student's academic profile, not your income — is available at hundreds of schools regardless of family income. Many high-income families leave significant merit aid on the table because they assume they won't qualify for anything. CAP's net cost calculator shows merit aid projections specifically, so you can see which schools are actually affordable for your family.
What's the smart way to borrow for college?
Borrowing for college changed in 2025. Recent legislation capped Parent PLUS loans at $65,000 per student (with a $20,000 annual cap) and tightened repayment protections — so the old default of "just take the Parent PLUS" no longer works for many families. Always exhaust federal student loan options first, then compare private loan rates carefully. A soft credit pull lets you check offers from multiple lenders without affecting your credit score, and even a 1% rate difference can mean thousands of dollars over the life of the loan. Our toolkit walks through the right order to use each funding source.
